Ethereum Classic (ETC) was born out of a hack and a philosophical disagreement within the Ethereum community. ETC is an open-source, public blockchain based on the original Ethereums code, with Ether classic being the token operating on the blockchain. Since its inception in July 2015, ETC has become one of the bigger cryptocurrencies. As such, its available for purchase on several large exchanges. Binance, Abra, Huobi and Coinbase, for example, offer a wide selection of trading pairs.

After the hack that resulted in the loss of millions of dollars worth of Ether, Ethereum forked to a new chain to remedy the damaged. ETC is the continuation of the original Ethereum blockchain. Since the split, Ethereum Classics price has steadily risen. Over the last several months, however, it has dropped rather sharply. Additionally, there are several wallets that can store Ethereum Classic. For example, Ledger Nano S Wallet, TREZOR One Wallet and Atomic Wallet all support ETC.
